In this article politeness phenomenon is analysed in the field of interpreter-mediated interaction. In particular, the study of some recorded trials in Court have shown the impact of politeness strategy in shaping and modifying a situational and communicative context characterised by a high level of formality in the definition of participants roles and status. The analysis shows how the use of these strategies by the interpreter plays a pivotal role in ensuring a successful communication
