Rhinoptera Cuvier 1829

Genus Rhinoptera Cuvier, 1829 Cownose Rays Rhinoptera Cuvier, 1829: 401. Type species Myliobatis marginata Geoffroy St. Hilaire, 1817, by subsequent designation; type designated by Bonaparte, 1838: 6 (of separate), also by Hay, 1902: 321. Appeared first as Rhenoptera van Hasselt, 1823: 318 and Rhinoptera van Hasselt, 1824: 90, regarded as nomina nuda.
