Protoptila ixtala Mosely Fig. 10 Mosely 1937: 156. This species is most similar to P. orotina orotina, P. orotina raposa, and P. bribri, n. sp. All have a similarly developed phallicata, which is elongate and very angularly bent in the middle. They differ most in the development of the apex of this structure. In P. ixtala the apex is dorsoventrally flattened, appearing narrow in lateral view, and with the apex strongly flared in dorsal view. Additionally, there are also minor differences among the species in the shapes of the apical sections of tergum X, the parameres, and the apex of sternum VIII, as shown in the illustrations.
