Fracture risk is higher in older adults with type 2 diabetes and may be influenced by treatments for diabetes. Oral anti-diabetic drugs have different effects on bone metabolism. The purpose of this review is to describe the effects of these drugs on bone metabolism and fracture risk. Osteoporosis is a progressive skeletal disorder that is characterized by compromised bone strength and increased risk of fracture.
