Over the past two decades, stapled anorectal procedures have been widely practiced worldwide for the treatment of benign disorders. This is largely due to the fact that these procedures are considered less painful and associated with earlier return to daily activities compared to conventional surgery [1, 2]. The diffusion of a new surgical technique is necessarily associated with the presence of a number of specific complications due to the procedure itself and several, often challenging sequelae of stapled interventions have become increasingly common in surgical practice [2, 3].
