This work, published in the volumes that celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the "Annali dell’Istituto Universitario Orientale di Napoli” is a ‘Forschungsbericht’ dedicated to the oldest documentary history of the Latin and Faliscan areas. The bibliography of the last thirty years is the subject of recognition and focus of a thorough discussion divided into several sections. In the center of the work lies the relationship between linguistic history and epigraphical hermeneutics, typically the characteristics of any study of ‘Restsprachen’.
