The EBSF European dimension: drivers and barriers to transfer innovative bus systems across Europe

EBSF- European Bus System of the Future (2008-2013) was a project funded by the European Commission within the 7th Framework Program. The core of the project was to develop a new generation of bus systems, to increase the attractiveness and improve the image of the mode. Seven Use Cases (UCs) in Europe, Bremerhaven, Brunoy, Budapest, Gothenburg, Madrid, Rome and Rouen, tested a series of innovative measures. Results served as a basis to develop the Transferability Exercise (TE), i.e. the assessment of drivers (and barriers) which could endorse (or hinder) the transferability of what tested to more European contexts. The TE called for the set-up of a specific methodology to find out “what” could be transferable of the UCs experiences, and “where to”. The paper describes how such methodology was applied and the results of the TE which simulated the transferability of the seven UCs experiences to a cluster of target cities across Europe
