A review was given on providing a comprehensive overview on arene and heteroarene functionalization by C-H bond activation. In general, reactions based on the use of a stoichiometric amt. of copper are not discussed herein. Copper-catalyzed arene and heteroarene functionalizations were categorized on the basis of the new bond formed. These main sections are further sub-classified by the nature of the coupling partner
