The relation between arterial blood pressure and erythrocyte fatty acid composition was investigated in a large urban female population aged 20-69 years. No significant differences in the relative amounts of saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated (n-6 and n-3 series) fatty acids and in the mean polyunsaturated/saturated and linoleic/oleic rations were observed in the different quartiles of both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
