Potential theranostic agents based on metal organic frame works (MOFs) are currently used for the targeted drug delivery at specific disease sites. Their microporous structure, chemical functionality and thermal stability make them an exceptional candidate in the biomedical field. Zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) is a prominent bio compatible MOF. The present work reports the in-situ incorporation of novel anti-cancer drug, doxorubicin (Dox) in the ZIF-8 structure using a simple solvothermal route. The nanoparticle size was found to be around 100-150 nm as confirmed by XRD and SEM. The inherent red luminescence of Doxorubicin helps in probing the nanoparticles.
