Measurements of up and down welling radiance are used for thedetermination of sea surface reflectivity (SSR) and sea surfacetemperature (SST). The radiance measurements are performed with the``Ocean Atmosphere Sounding Interferometer System'' (OASIS) which isoperated at a spectral resolution of about 1 cm(-1). The SSR isestimated in IR window regions from 800 to 1200 and 2095 to 2160 cm(-1).During a field campaign the SSR is measured from an ocean pier at thebaltic sea. The comparison of measured and calculated SST suggest thatfrom several available sets of refractive indices the one published byBertie and Lan (1996) including a correction for sea water fromFriedmann (1969) represents the measurement best
