Airport Wellbeing

The research study explores how passenger experiences can be improved through the easing of passenger stress and anxiety in Airports. Airports can be stressful places for passengers due to travel related pressures, way-finding issues, high security measures. Findings will be informed through literature, case studies and experiments including empirical and participatory research methods and via published passenger surveys and data from security process. These will help address focus areas as the planning of airports, security, operational efficiency, and passenger facilitation. Through my research findings, I aim to identify design criteria and design frameworks. Through this research methodology I aim to develop and test solutions and thereby identify designs that enhance passenger health and wellbeing, and the experience within airports including security screening process. The Wellington International Airport (WLG Airport) will be used as the study site for this design research project. The study focus will be on analysing the departing passenger facilitation process at Wellington International Airport. The research has heightened my interest as I can utilise direct experience and model the reality to help improve passenger experiences in airports.
