El ayuno intermitente en el tratamiento de la diabetes mellitus tipo 2

The condition of diabetes mellitus (DM) has been characterized as a non-communicable disease (NCD), which is currently the most prevalent morbidity and mortality factor in a common group. Such is the case of diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM2), a silent disease, largely associated with overweight or obesity, forged by a sedentary lifestyle, with hypercaloric eating habits. Objective: The present research maintains the purpose of determining the effectiveness of IA with the development of a diet scheme of 21 days for the control of the basal glycemia index (IBG) in DM2. Methodology: It is an experimental correlative research of descriptive type. Where the blood glucose level is evaluated by means of glycated hemoglobin, under informed consent, of those who exercise the treatment of IA. The statistical distinction was made with the nonparametric tests of K-S and Shapiro-Wilk whose purpose was to define the distribution of the variables. The hypotheses were tested by testing the ranges with Wilcoxon signs that measured the means of the indicators of the dependent variable. Results: Of the 70 patients included in the study, the female group predominated 6 to 1 over the male group suffering from DM2, with an average variability of the superior body mass index (BMI) in women, denoting values of 38.4 and 35.71 respectively. Significant changes in blood glucose indicators could be verified. Glycosylated hemoglobin, weight and waist/hip index; samples were analyzed by blood biochemistry of patients and anthropometric evaluations. Conclusions: The treatment with IA determines beneficial effects, such as the effect of autophagy, which demonstrated a regularization in blood sugar. However, there is a need for strict monitoring of their application for the side effects of starvation.El padecimiento de diabetes mellitus (DM) se ha caracterizado por ser una enfermedad no transmisible (ENT), que en la actualidad es el factor de morbimortalidad de mayor incidencia en un colectivo común. Tal es el caso de la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DM2), una enfermedad silenciosa, en gran parte asociado a un sobrepeso u obesidad, forjado por un estilo de vida sedentario, con hábitos alimenticios hipercalóricos. Objetivo: La presente investigación mantiene el propósito de determinar la efectividad del ayuno intermitente (AI) con el desarrollo de un esquema de alimentación de 21 días para el control del índice basal de glucemia (IBG) en DM2. Metodología: Es una investigación experimental correlacional de tipo descriptivo. En donde se evalúa el nivel de glucosa en sangre por medio de la hemoglobina glicosilada, bajo consentimiento informado, de quienes ejerzan el tratamiento del AI. La distinción estadística se llevó a cabo con las pruebas no paramétricas de K-S y Shapiro-Wilk cuyo propósito fue definir la distribución de las variables. Las hipótesis fueron comprobadas mediante la prueba de los rangos con signos de Wilcoxon que midieron las medias de los indicadores de la variable dependiente. Resultados: De 70 pacientes que engloba el objeto de estudio, el grupo femenino preponderó de 6 a 1 sobre el sexo masculino que padecen de DM2. Se pudo verificar cambios significativos en los indicadores glucosa en sangre. Hemoglobina Glicosilada, peso e índice cintura/cadera; las muestras fueron analizadas mediante la bioquímica sanguínea de los pacientes y evaluaciones antropométricas. Conclusiones: El tratamiento con AI determina efectos beneficiosos, como es el accionar de la autofagia, la cual demostró una regularización en la glucemia.
