This thesis, presents a study of transient pressures in water pipelines. A study of the fundamentals of wave motion in elastic media is first given, and then the basic equations of waterhammer are presented. Graphical solutions are obtained for the sudden gate closure and sudden pump failure problems assuming no losses. A solution is also obtained for the sudden gate closure considering losses.
