Efficient, cost-effective, and safe orientations with clear expectations are necessary for new graduates in their transition from student to practicing nurse. In the current nursing shortage, healthcare needs to invest more in retaining new graduates. Orientation can be a factor in decisions to leave. This scoping review revealed that strong evidence is lacking regarding best practices during orientation for evaluating new graduate nurses\u27 readiness to practice on their own. More resources, research, and tools are needed
