Fresh leaves of indigofera tinctoria species which are available in tropical countries is used as the sensitizer in the Dye Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC). The indigo dye is extracted by hot water extraction method and fermentation method. The optimum temperature of extracting the indigo dye is determined by extracting the indigo dye at 4 different temperatures using the hot water extraction method and it is compared to the indigo dye extracted using the fermentation method. One of the issue faced is that due to high temperature, light intensity and inadequate rainfall, the leaves of the indigofera tinctoria species used will be affected and this could reduce the yield of the indigo dye extracted
