This project in its present form is the proposal to scrutinize on the development of eco-friendly drilling fluid by using Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD) as a based in oil-based mud. The initial idea was to analyse the characterization of biodiesel (PFAD) as continuous phase in drilling fluid. Rheology test and mud tests were then conducted for PFAD-based drilling fluid and conventional oil-based mud (mineral diesel), which will lead to the justification of the PFAD-based drilling fluid adaptability level in replacing the conventional oil-based mud.
