Inteligencia emocional y su influencia en distintas áreas psicológicas de los adolescentes.

This study analyzes the relationship between perceived emotional intelligence (PEI) and different psychopathologies in adolescents enrolled in Comunidad de Madrid. It was expected that the higher PEI, the lower psychopathology and higher self-esteem and wellbeing. Using the correlational method, in a sample of 92 adolescents (53 boys and 39 girls), PEI was measured with the Trait Meta-Mood Scale-24 (TMMS-24), and the Questionnaire for the Assessment of Problems in Adolescents (Q-PAD) evaluated body dissatisfaction, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, interpersonal problems, family problems, uncertainty about the future, psychosocial risk, and self-esteem and well-being. Less than 50% reached adequate levels in EI. The psychological variables presented around 20% of subjects with a clinically significant score, reaching 40% in self-esteem-well-being and, except substance abuse, all correlated with at least one EI dimension. It is concluded that developing EI could reduce psychopathology in adolescents, and cultural factors could explain differences between groups in IEP.Este estudio analiza la relación entre inteligencia emocional percibida (IEP) y diferentes psicopatologías en adolescentes escolarizados en la Comunidad de Madrid. Se esperó encontrar a mayor IEP, menor psicopatología y mayor autoestima-bienestar. Mediante el método correlacional, en una muestra de 92 adolescentes (53 chicos y 39 chicas), se midió IEP con Trait Meta-Mood Scale-24 (TMMS-24), y el cuestionario para la Evaluación de Problemas en Adolescentes (Q-PAD) evaluó insatisfacción corporal, ansiedad, depresión, abuso de sustancias, problemas interpersonales, problemas familiares, incertidumbre sobre el futuro, riesgo psicosocial y autoestima-bienestar. Menos del 50% alcanzó niveles adecuados en IE. Las variables psicológicas presentaron alrededor del 20% de sujetos con puntuación clínicamente significativa, llegando al 40% en autoestima-bienestar y, excepto abuso de sustancias, todas correlacionaron con al menos una dimensión de IE. Se concluye que desarrollando la IE se podría disminuir psicopatología en adolescentes, y factores culturales podrían explicar las diferencias entre los grupos en IEP
