The relationship of students' self-efficacy, linguistic intelligence, and speaking ability (A Correlational Study at the Seventh Grade Bilingual Students of Islamic Junior High School of Madrasah Pembangunan UIN Jakarta)

This study was carried out with the intention of examining and investigating the association between students' levels of self-efficacy (X1), linguistic intelligence (X2), and speaking ability (Y) during the academic year 2019/2020 at Islamic Junior High School of Madrasah Pembangunan UIN Jakarta. Quantitative methods were utilized, and correlation served as the research strategy for this study. A self efficacy questionnaire, a test of linguistic intelligence, and a test of speaking ability were utilized in the process of data collection. In order to calculate the correlation value, the r product-moment and r multiple regression coefficient tests were applied during the data analysis process. The research reveals that: (1) there was a positive and significant correlation between students? self-efficacy (X1) and speaking ability (Y) with a correlation value 0.441 and R square 0.058; (2) there was a weak and low correlation between students? linguistic intelligence (X2) and speaking ability (Y) with a correlation value 0.025 and R square 0.001; and (3) there was a positive and low significant correlation between students? self-efficacy (X1), linguistic intelligence (X2), and speaking ability (Y) with the correlation coefficient r = 0.255, and the significant value is 0.038 < 0.05, H1 is accepted, whereas H0 is denied. To summarize, this study found that students? self-efficacy and their capacity to communicate effectively are linked in a weak way. This result turned out to be possibly affected by the students? other intelligences, the students gender, the students? dominant learning style, as well as the condition when the research conducted
