This work was devoted to the understanding of physicochemical transformations and thermomechanical behavior of industrial clay-based mixtures during the firing cycle. A particular focus was made on the development of a viscous phase. For ceramics, the viscous phase plays an important role in the densification mechanism at high temperature and can lead to a decrease of the sintering temperature. Therefore, it is very important to understand its interaction with the clay matrix.
