Waterbird hunting is a widespread human activity over wetlands of the Eurasian continent. It has two components that can influence the population dynamics of migratory species : mortality and disturbance. Disturbance is the focus of an increasing number of detailed studies, using both experimental and theoretical approaches. They are synthesized herein. Disturbance is considered important when induced changes influence the fitness of the individuals of a species (decrease in survival or breeding success).
