The use of space and movements of adult Red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) in a rabies enzootic area of Lorraine were studied between 1 980 and 1 982. Five males and six females were followed by radiotracking (149 MHz) for various lengths of time (from 1 1 days to more than one year). The surface of their «seasonal activity areas » (a more suitable term than «home range » in this case) was estimated at 300-400 ha, depending on indivi- duals and method. The seasonal activity areas of males were slightly larger than those of vixens, and probably correlated with body size.
