An outbreak of sarcoptic mange (1975-1984) in Sweden was monitored and related to a model of Red fox population regulation. The infested area expanded in 3 pulses, each associated with a new vole cycle. The southward spreading was retarded as the mange front reached the agricultural regions of tne boreo-nemoral and nemoral zones.
