We demonstrate novel channel waveguides made of SiO2/Si grooves filled with liquid crystals. We investigated the polarization dependency of waveguides using the commercial nematic liquid crystal E7. The orthogonal polarization state, for which the optical electric field "sees" only the lower LC refractive index, was suppressed by 21 dB
