The Development of a Proposed Job Hazard Analysis Process for Company XYZ

Plan BThe purpose of this study was to develop and propose a suitable job hazard analysis system for Company XYZ. The windows manufacturing company was faced with escalating safety related incidents, which may be attributed to the absence of an effective job hazard analysis tool. The goals of the study were to identify different types of job hazard analysis systems that could benefit Company XYZ as wells as develop and test a specific job hazard analysis system to determine its suitability to effectively identify hazards throughout the organization. The researcher collaborated with a Safety Representative from the company in the development of a provisional job hazard analysis tool. The tool was reviewed by the Safety Representative as well as other safety professionals and the findings identified its strengths as well as shortcomings based on the company’s safety requirements. The issues with the system included too many choices in the categories that did not reflect the company’s processes, misidentified tasks, inaccurate or missing formulas and an inability to modify or select multiple items. Ultimately, data procured after the review process was used to develop tentative recommendations for improving the job hazard analysis tool in order to meet the needs of the organization. Proposed modifications to the job hazard analysis tool include accurate task identification and descriptions as well as the simplification of drop-down menus. The needed changes will increase accuracy and improve on overall conciseness of the tool based on the specific processes and needs of Company XYZ
