Plan BAdvancement in technology and social media sites has led to a new form of bullying, called cyberbullying. Research has defined cyberbullying as the act of intentionally inflicting harm onto another individual using social media, email, text messages, and other electronic mediums. This qualitative literature review examines cyberbullying in the educational setting, as well as its impacts on various populations, such as males versus females, general education versus special education students, and socioeconomic status. Evidence regarding the characteristics of effective preventative programs is also reviewed.
