The work deals with psychological aspects appearing in families with a somatically chronically ill child. Based on the available literature, it defines the concept of chronicity in the pediatric population, as there is currently no consensus in this area. Furthermore, it presents a model that describes medical stress related to chronic illness in childhood and its trajectories, for anchoring survival in families. Subsequently, it describes the experience of parents in the context of the disease, as they are the main bearers of the burden of care that they must manage, along with other daily demands.
