78% of items are still functional at the time they are disposed of. At a time where human consumption exceeds Earth’s resources, it is clear that solutions to slow down consumption need to be found. One of the solutions would be to lengthen product lifetimes. This bachelor’s thesis focuses to shed light on product longevity through examining product-person relationships, the ending and strengthening of those. The main research question is “How to increase the attachment people feel towards their items, in a way that would also be financially viable to companies?”.
