STRATEGI JARINGAN ADVOKASI TAMBANG (JATAM) DALAM PENGENDALIAN KERUSAKAN LINGKUNGAN PASCA PENAMBANGAN BATU BARA DI SAMARINDA

The coal mining process operating in the province of East Kalimantan is carried out using the open pit mining method or commonly known as open mining, therefore coal deposits are needed in works such as demolition of hills and excavations up to tens of meters below the ground surface. This activity can affect the rate of soil erosion and result in a decrease in soil fertility because naturally the soil layers are neatly arranged from the top and bottom layers, if excavation is carried out the layer will be disturbed, so this open pit mining method results in demolition of the soil into voids. (mining pit). This research was conducted in the Mining Advocacy Network in the Province of East Kalimantan, Samarinda City. This study aims to determine JATAM's strategy in controlling environmental damage after coal mining in Samarinda. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Determination of the subject in this study was determined by purposive sampling. The techniques used in the observation, interviews, and documentation. The data validity technique uses source trigulation. This study uses the Resource Mobilization Theory introduced by Anthony Oberschall. The results of this study indicate the strategy of the mining advocacy network (JATAM) in controlling environmental damage after coal mining in Samarinda with the first social movement the JATAM movement as a follow-up to community complaints, the second carrying out formal discussions with the government regarding the urgency of mining pits, the third mass mobilization in the form of demonstrations against the government, the existence of the samarinda movement to sue which aims to sue the government for violating existing policies.
