STUDENTS PERCEPTION ON THE USE OF ONLINE DICTIONARIES IN LEARNING ENGLISH VOCABULARY

Online dictionary is a tool that offers learning English outside or inside the classroom easily and quickly. The purpose of this study is to find out the students' perceptions about use Online dictionaries in learning English vocabulary. This study involved 59 participants who were taken randomly from 164 students on 8th semester of English Language Education Department at University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Quantitative and Qualitative method is used in this research. Questionnaires and interviews are research instruments used to collect data. This study found that the online dictionaries that most ELED students prefer to use where Google Translate and followed by U-Dictionary in learning English vocabulary. The reasons use it because fast and easy to use to look up unfamiliar vocabulary anywhere and anytime. But most respondents realized that online dictionary has weaknesses such as the translation is not really accurate, the grammatical errors and the big problems is internet network. From the data analysis, researchers can draw an overall conclusion that students' perceptions of the use of online dictionaries have a positive impact
