This dissertation presents efficient solution techniques for fluid flow simulations focused on aeronautical applications. Thus, compressible Navier-Stokes (NS) and Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations are considered. The method of choice for spatial discretization is Discontinuous Galerkin Spectral Element Method (DGSEM). However, most of the considered techniques can find an application for other types of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations (incompressible formulation or multi-phase flows) and can be used with other type of high-order formulations, e.g.: Discontinuous Galerkin or Flux Reconstruction.
