Background and Objective: The public’s safety has been significantly jeopardized by the pandemic of COVID-19, which is brought on by the highly virulent and contagious SARS-CoV-2 virus. Finding novel antiviral drugs is currently of utmost importance for the treatment of patients with COVID-19. Main protease (3CLpro) of SARS-CoV-2 is involved in replication of virus, so it is considered as a promising target. Using small molecules to inhibit SARS-CoV-2-3CLpro activity may be an effective way to prevent viral replication to fight COVID-19.
