Wydział FizykiZjawisko fotochromizmu polega na odwracalnej zmianie barwy związku chemicznego pod wpływem światła. Związki fotochromowe, do których należą naftopirany, są szeroko stosowane w soczewkach fotochromowych. Głównym celem rozprawy doktorskiej jest opis mechanizmu reakcji fotochromowej w 3H-naftopiranach metodami spektroskopii absorpcji w zakresie UV-vis i średniej podczerwieni. Badania właściwości fotofizycznych i fotochemicznych przeprowadzono dla różnych pochodnych 3H-naftopiranów. W reakcji fotochromowej 3H-naftopiranów na skutek naświetlania promieniowaniem UV powstają dwie formy barwne: transoid-cis (TC) i transoid-trans (TT), które zanikają w krótszej (TC) i dłuższej (TT) skali czasu odtwarzając bezbarwny naftopiran.
