IntroductionIn postmenopausal osteoporosis, hormonal changes lead to increased bone turnover and metabolic alterations including increased fat mass and insulin resistance. Activin type IIB receptors bind several growth factors of the TGF-beta superfamily and have been demonstrated to increase muscle and bone mass.
