Análise espacial e série temporal do câncer de laringe no Brasil entre os anos de 2010-2019

Introduction: Cancer is one of the leading causes of death before the age of 70 and has had a significant increase in cases in recent years. Among these neoplasms, one of the most common is the head and neck, and among the affected regions, 25% are in the larynx region. Objective: The objective of this study was to analyze and describe the geographic distribution and time series of hospitalizations, mortality and costs of laryngeal cancer in Brazil, from 2010 to 2019. Method: Descriptive ecological study, with data in the public domain , obtained from the Hospital Information System of the Informatics Department of the Unified Health System (DATSUS). Results: The historical series of the laryngeal cancer mortality rate in the regions of Brazil between the years 2010 and 2019 shows a decrease only in the southern region. The staging of cancer diagnosis was grade 3 and 4 in most Brazilian states. Overall laryngeal cancer mortality rates and by sex between 2010 and 2019 show higher prevalence in the South, Southeast and Midwest regions, partially including the Northeast among the highest quintile. Males have a higher prevalence of AIHs and mortality rate in all federative units. Conclusion: The study showed that laryngeal cancer has a higher prevalence in the south, southeast and northeast regions, with a higher prevalence in men and especially the elderly.Introdução: O câncer é uma das maiores causas de morte antes dos 70 anos e teve um significativo aumento de casos nos últimos anos. Dentro dessas neoplasias uma das com maior incidência está a de cabeça e pescoço, e entre as regiões acometidas 25% são na região da laringe. Objetivo: O objetivo desse estudo foi analisar e descrever a distribuição geográfica e a serie temporal das internações, mortalidade e custos do câncer de laringe no Brasil, no período de 2010 a 2019. Método: Estudo do tipo ecológico descritivo, com dados de domínio público, obtidos no Sistema de Informações Hospitalares do Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde (DATSUS). Resultados: A série histórica da taxa de mortalidade por câncer de laringe nas regiões do Brasil entre os anos de 2010 e 2019 apresenta diminuição apenas na região sul. O estadiamento do diagnóstico do câncer foi no grau 3 e 4 na maior parte dos estados do Brasil. As taxas de mortalidade de câncer de laringe geral e por sexo entre 2010 e 2019 demonstram maiores prevalências nas regiões sul, sudeste e centro-oeste, incluindo parcialmente o nordeste entre o maior quintil. O sexo masculino apresenta maior prevalência de AIHs e de taxa de mortalidade em todas unidades federativas. Conclusão: O estudo demonstrou que o câncer de laringe tem maior prevalência nas regiões sul, sudeste e nordeste, com maior em homens e principalmente idosos.São Cristóvão, S
