She has published two books of poetry, short story collections, and a book of narrative essays. Ehrlich, a California native, first went to Wyoming as a documentary filmmaker. She began to write full-time in 1979 and has also worked on ranches lambing, branding, herding sheep, and calving. She now lives with her husband on a ranch in Shell, Wyoming.
