Early screening, diagnosis, and treatment of age-related eye diseases are emerging challenges for public health professionals. New techniques of evaluation and management are currently being used. The scanning laser ophthalmoscope is used for microperimetry and determination of preferred retinal locus in order to treat absolute central scotomas. Biofeedback in low vision patients using the Improved Biofeedback Integrated System has given promising results in the rehabilitation of patients. Optical aids include optical magnifiers, magnifying eyeglasses, telescopes, monoculars, Galilean, Keplerian, and electronic systems.
