Midwives are largely responsible for maternity care in hospitals. As such, they play a significant role in ensuring the health and well-being of pregnant women and newborn babies. To perform that duty effectively, midwives need to be professional in their conduct. However, there are reports that midwives have displayed poor attitudes and behaviour in South Africa.
