Companheiros na vida e na morte: os mamíferos em contexto funerário e não funerário na Idade do Bronze do Baixo Alentejo (Portugal)

On this presentation, we purpose to compare the occurrence of mammals within the funerary and non-funerary practices on negative structures of the Iron Age (second millennium BC) on the Lower Alentejo (e.g., the district of Beja). The data points out to the association of cattle, sheep/goat, pig/boar, dogs and rabbits on both funerary and non-funerary rituals. This pattern points to the non-existence of a real separation among consumed animals and the ones present on the funerary rituals. Even though, red deer and equids have a different behavior as they only appear on non-funerary contexts pointing to a probable differences on the relationship between these animals and Bronze Age communities.Nesta apresentação propomo-nos comparar a ocorrencirde mamíferos associados aos rituais funerários e não funerários encontrados em estruturas negativas da Idade do Bronze Pleno (2° milénio a.C.) do Baixo Alentejo (i.e., distrito de Beja). A leitura dos dados aponta para a associação de vacas, ovelhas/cabras, porcos/javalis, cães e coelhos, tanto em I contextos funerários como não funerários. Este padrão parece indiciar a inexistência de uma separação efetiva entre os animais consumidos e os presentes nos rituais funerários.
