Projecting the Lights and Shadows of the Peninsular Audiovisual Industry Post-CIMA: Dialogues with Emerging Women Filmmakers

[Abstract] In the current article we share a critical self-reflection of our contributions to the digital humanities project The Gynocine Project. The point of departure and axis of our analysis is a corpus of six interviews we conducted with emerging women filmmakers of the post-CIMA period alongside related readings and recent studies of this subject. In our examination, coinciding with fifteen years of CIMA’s advocacy for gender equality in the Spanish audiovisual industry, we illuminate current conditions, identifying lights and shadows with respect to women’s access to and representation in audiovisual creation, in addition to offering projections for the future.[Resumen] El propósito del presente artículo es llevar a cabo una metarreflexión crítica sobre nuestras aportaciones al proyecto de humanidades digitales The Gynocine Project. El punto de partida y eje que articula este análisis es un corpus de seis entrevistas que realizamos a mujeres cineastas emergentes de la etapa posCIMA junto a lecturas cruzadas de investigaciones recientes enfocadas en este ámbito. Este estudio, que coincide con el quince aniversario del compromiso de CIMA por la igualdad de género en la industria audiovisual española, ilumina el estado de la cuestión, identificando las luces y sombras del acceso de las mujeres a la creación audiovisual y su representación dentro de ella, además de proyecciones de futuro
