A world-renowned economist, prof. Branko Milanović, recently published a new book on pervasive inequalities. Capitalism, Alone (2019) is another great piece in Milanović’ intellectual opus – it provides some convincing and very relevant arguments on why deep wealth inequality continuous to linger in its place and how it is perpetuated by certain elements of liberal capitalism. On the other hand, when suggesting measures to counter these inequalities the book remains cautious and politically moderate, without seriously considering what should be its central proposal – pre-distribution of capital ownership.
