An updated checklist of the known Notonectidae of Venezuela is presented along with their geographical distribution and a key to the genera of Venezuela. To date we record 12 species of notonectids in four genera and two subfamilies: Notonecta indica Linnaeus 1771, Martarega chinai Hynes 1948 (Notonectinae), Buenoa platycnemis Fieber 1851, B. fuscipennis (Berg 1879), B. antigone antigone (Kirkaldy 1899), B. pallens (Champion 1901), B. salutis Kirkaldy 1904, B. gracilis Truxal 1953, B. nitida Truxal 1953, B. rostra Truxal 1953, B. unguis Truxal 1953 y Enithares duidaensis Brooks 1953 (Anisopinae).
