To test the hypothesis that biogeochemical changes during casts ageing can be traced by infrared spectroscopy, we collected topsoil aggregates and earthworm casts produced by the anecic earthworm Amynthas khami belonging to five distinct degradation stages in woodland in northern Vietnam.
