CODICES BOETHIANI. A CONSPECTUS OF MANUSCRIPTS OF THE WORKS OF BOETHIUS. IV. PORTUGAL AND SPAIN

Abstract: Codices Boethiani IV is a conspectus of Boethius’s works – including his commentaries on Porphyry and Aristotle, and his translations of Aristotelian logic - as they survive in manuscripts throughout Portugal and Spain. We are concerned not primarily with searching out the best manuscripts for an editor, but with the transmission and use of the works of Boethius. The complete census is expected to be of 7 volumes and to describe Boethian manuscripts throughout the world. Abstract: Codices Boethiani IV si propone di offrire un quadro delle opere di Boezio, compresi i suoi commenti a Porfirio e ad Aristotele e le sue traduzioni della logica di Aristotele, così come sono conservate nei codici delle biblioteche di Portogallo e Spagna. Lo scopo non è tanto quello di individuare i manoscritti migliori per un’edizione critica quanto di comprendere come fu trasmessa e utilizzata l’opera boeziana.
