Nietzsche, Foucault and self-care: the ascetical practices and the development of a type of human being able to create new values

The following dissertation analyses the presence of a positive view of asceticism in Nietzsche's work. We start from the Foucault's comprehension about the Ancient Philosophy self-care thematic, in search for elements that substantiate this period in order to make the investigation in Nietzsche's work about the presence of similar elements that allow us to understand the possible re-update of this thematic in the work of the German philosopher. Up next we give attention to interpretations about asceticism in both authors. After that, the theme of the free spirit is analysed in the middle works, searching for the major characteristics likewise the imoralism, solitude, vita contemplativa and the relation with asceticism. Lastly, we analyze the spiritual gradations theorized by Nietzsche, where we understand the free spirit in the process of transition to the overman, so that, in relation to the latter period, be understood the tasks determined to each type until the establishment of the transvaluation of all values. After the analyses of the published works, posthumous writings and comments, it's possible to objectify how Nietzsche reflects traces of the Ancient Philosophy tradition about the self-care in search to provide a cure for humanity through the creation of new values.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESA presente dissertação analisa a presença de uma visão positiva do ascetismo na obra de Nietzsche. Começamos com a compreensão de Foucault sobre a temática do cuidado de si na Filosofia Antiga, em busca de elementos que fundamentem esse período para que seja feita a investigação na obra de Nietzsche, acerca da presença de elementos semelhantes que permitam entender, uma possível reatualização dessa temática na obra do filósofo alemão. Em seguida, damos atenção às interpretações sobre o ascetismo em ambos os autores. Adiante é analisado o tema do espírito livre nas obras do período intermediário, buscando suas principais características, como o imoralismo, solidão, vita contemplativa e relação com o ascetismo. Por fim, analisamos as gradações espirituais teorizadas por Nietzsche, onde compreendemos o espírito livre no processo de transição ao além-do-homem, para que, em relação com o período tardio, se entenda as tarefas determinadas a cada tipo até o estabelecimento da transvaloração de todos os valores. Após analise das obras publicadas, fragmentos póstumos e comentários, pôde-se objetivar como Nietzsche reflete traços da tradição ao cuidado de si na Filosofia Antiga, em sua busca de fornecer uma cura à humanidade através da criação de novos valores
