Design and AI in the Age of Digital Transformation

As highlighted in the previous chapter, Fujitsu is committed to Human Centric Experience Design (HXD) to foster digital transformation in response to changes in society. As digitalization took off in the twentieth century, Fujitsu successfully developed technical solutions, greatly contributing to the growth of digital technologies and their industries. Yet today, in the twenty-first century, the company instead leverages technology as a catalyst to drive digital transformation, systemically transforming the lives of individuals rather than industries to generate new social values. This chapter presents the significance of digital transformation in our society today, along with case studies that illustrate the relevance of UX and public infrastructure in driving transformation. This is followed by how artificial intelligence (AI) can not only bring about new business opportunities for companies across industries, but also hasten digital transformation across business processes.
