Letter To The Editor

The Letter to the editor feature contribution from Lyn Messenger of Brookton discusses salt land reclamation and includes comments on some of the supposed facts to present the true picture. The figures and letter from Mr. T. Negus published recently reinforce the ineffectiveness of the Department's advocated ideas, while he is to be congratulated for at last presenting figures and photographic proof of same. The monitoring is not on Whittington's interceptor banks and is not relevant and should not be construed as such. Mr. Old was noted as saying the banks were too costly and the Department's ideas were as effective and less costly. Lyn Messenger explains that being the first to follow Mr. Whittington's lead and installed some banks in 1971, he was convinced after using the advocated ideas for some years that the Department is only treating the symptoms and not the cause.
