Silesian (sub)Field of Art. Origins, Structure, Meaning

The article shows a picture of the Silesian world of art (visual arts), treated as a part of the Polish artistic field. The authors, using Pierre Bourdieu's field theory, outline the origins and structure of the Silesian subfield and situate it in the national artistic space. The Silesian field of art is divided into two main areas: orthodox (classic art) and heterodox (avant-garde). Theses areas are supported by two forces: the former by the local, political and bureaucratic fields and the latter by the central forces of the national field of art. The analysis is based on research of Silesian contemporary art galleries.Artykuł przedstawia obraz śląskiego uniwersum sztuki (sztuk wizualnych), traktowanego jako część polskiego pola artystycznego. Autorzy, posługując się teorią pól społecznych Pierre’a Bourdieu kreślą genezę i strukturę śląskiego subpola, a także próbują odczytać jego miejsce i znaczenie w szerszej przestrzeni narodowej. Według nich, śląskie subpole dzieli się na dwa główne obszary: ortodoksji – sztuki klasycznej (uznanej) i heterodoksji – awangardy. Obszary te wzmacniane są przez dwie główne siły; w przypadku pierwszym lokalnych pól politycznych i biurokratycznych, w przypadku drugim, centralnych sił narodowego pola sztuki.
