Background: Recognition of fracture patterns and fixation of fracture to secure and maintain reduction is the key for successful management of more complex intra articular fractures of distal radius. Devices like buttress plates have been shown to provide excellent stability for an unstable fracture with either dorsal or volar metaphyseal comminution.
