The principle of equal pay between men and women for equal work or work of equal value, and the prohibition of gender pay discrimination, have a long history of multilevel guardianship that, however, has not prevented European and Spanish indicators from showing a persistent gender pay gap. Royal Decree-Law 6/2019, of March 1, developed by Royal Decree 902/2020, of October 13, has modified article 28 ET to introduce an unprecedented mechanism of transparency in Spanish Labor Law: the salary register.
